Expert

Daniel F. Johnson built his electrical contracting business and career on honesty, quality and integrity.  Through the years his troubleshooting, problem solving and organizational skills, were recognized and appreciated by attorneys, insurance companies and individuals involved in some form of litigation.  One case at a time and one year at a time he became what the industry now calls an expert witness.  His straight forward and “follow the evidence wherever it may lead” approach has provided him a well earned reputation.

Mr. Johnson is an active member of the Nation Fire Protection Association (NFPA).  The NFPA is the body that is responsible for writing the National Electrical Code (NEC).  The NEC is the minimum electrical standard for the entire United States.  The NEC is adopted by each state individually and combined with their particular amendments (if any).  Thus, his constant obsession with the NEC keeps his knowledge of the trade related codes, razor sharp.

Due to his decades of contracting, which are still active, he is able to detect defective installations, false and misleading information no matter the source.  His industry wide experiences make him a rich resource for subjects such as: Construction Defects, Code Compliance, Industry Standards, Standard of Care, Project Delay, Remedial Repair, Cost of Repair.

Mr. Johnson is not a Registered Engineer, however he has legally “in house engineered” a huge variety of projects that allow him to dissect engineered drawings and plans.  This ability allows him to determine if a project has been installed properly by a complex set of drawings, or if there have been omissions or deviations from the plans and specs.

As a bonus, Mr. Johnson has obtained additional contracting licenses such as:  B General Contracting, C-10 Electrical Contractor, C-20 HVAC Contractor, C-36 Plumbing Contractor, and a variety of supplemental licenses like solar for each of the preceding.  These additional skill sets allow him to interface with multiple trades whenever and wherever the case may require it.  The additional capability allows him to allocate responsibility to other trades involved (see Johnson Electrical Contracting on this site for further detail).  At one point Mr Johnson enhanced his abilities by joining the California Conference of Arson Investigators (CCAI).  This organization provides unmatched industry wide training.  As it relates to the electrical industry CCAI provided in depth training on electrically ignited fires.
